Brief history of the church

Emmanuel Christian Church - The House of Judah (ECC-HOJ) was founded in 1997. Apostle Vincent Loate, after serving his Pastors faithfully for years, responded to the call to start the ministry in the city of Pretoria together with his wife, Pastor Kgalalelo Loate. The church started as a cell group, meeting in one of the residential flats in Sunnyside, Pretoria, South Africa (SA). The church membership increased numerically, and in the same year in February 1997, Sunday services commenced in a rented property in the Pretoria city centre.

Due to growing numbers of worshippers, ECC-HoJ moved to a sizeable venue in Sunnyside in 2000. In 2001, ECC-HoJ had its first church Conference; first All-Night Prayer, first Annual Banquet and first wedding (matrimonial service) of the members of the church. Within the same year, the church hosted national and international speakers at the premises in Sunnyside.

A year later, in 2002, the church had to move to a building in the Pretoria city centre. The move came after the place where the church rented premises was declared a development area for Government offices. In the same year, Apostle Vincent Loate released a prophetic word that the church will have its own building. The church waited upon the Lord with fervent prayers. God fulfilled the prophetic word and the church acquired its first property in July 2002, at number 485 Pretorius Street in Arcadia, Pretoria (SA), without having to raise funds. The official dedication of this building took place in October 2002. The first wedding in the new building took place within the same year.

In 2005, ECC-HoJ served as host for the Africa House of Prayer Conference, an international event. In 2009, the church hosted a crusade in the City of Tshwane under the theme Jubilee Festival. The church has grown significantly over the years with more campuses opened in other locations locally, and in the United Kingdom (UK).
